The Land of Legend Chorus is in its 57th year of singing for the community. We are part of the Barbershop Harmony Society, formerly called “SPEBSQSA.” (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing.) We are a Men’s A Cappella 4-Part Harmony Chorus. That means we sing the same great stuff that a Barbershop Quartet sings, but with many more men.
There are always a few quartets formed from chapter members who want to take their singing experience to a more challenging level. These quartets are also available for community entertainment needs.
The Newark Chapter strives to provide excellent entertainment for audiences by applying the barbershop style to a variety of arrangement styles.
In addition to our Annual Spring Show, the Land of Legend Chorus performs throughout the year at both public and private engagements throughout Licking County and beyond.
The chorus has traditionally performed for the Granville Christmas Candlelight Tour and Memorial Day Services. We entertain at the St. Louisville Firefighters December “thank you” dinner.
Other charity events include the Kiwanis Pancake Brunch and the “Sunday Singers.” Each summer, volunteers from the chorus provide music for services at local churches several weekends. Donations received are redirected to charities selected by the chapter.
We are always seeking new singers. We currently sing with about 30-32 men. Our goal this year is to have a 50-man chorus.
